Christina and Josh Hall are dedicated to turning their present-day California abode into a eternally house. Soon after building a spa sanctuary in their backyard, the couple embarked on one more personalized venture: a kitchen renovation.
“The initial time we walked this property, I knew in my head, like, this kitchen area is not keeping,” Christina stated throughout the latest episode of Christina on the Coast.
She discussed that the kitchen—which has stark white cabinetry and a lengthy island with a raised bar—doesn’t fit her style. “The total kitchen area just type of appears to be like like a single huge robot,” she stated. “It’s a minimal little bit as well modern and kinda severe. I would enjoy a little something a tiny extra pure emotion, a tiny more organic.”
Josh agreed the kitchen area wanted to be softened up, so the complete thing had to go. But additional than that, the couple’s kitchen lacked features. Christina pointed out that the dishwasher in the island often pops open when she attempts to put together foodstuff. All of the higher horizontal cabinetry features a hydraulic raise-up procedure, which means their contents wouldn’t be available if the electric power at any time went out. Not to mention, they are way too shallow to healthy plates. The better cupboards are not sensible for day to day use. Furthermore, the variety only has a person performing burner.
Immediately after deciding to renovate, Josh produced a visual of what their preferred new kitchen area could appear like. Working with tape, he mapped out what he realized Christina preferred: floating shelves flanking a hood vent, a shorter hood than their existing just one, a slide-in array, and a shorter island that is broader and has waterfall edges. (Unlike Christina’s former job, they did not decide for a T-shaped kitchen area island.) The pair also made the decision to increase a bar with wine fridges in the open up-idea kitchen. “We are not gonna transfer once more, so we may as nicely have a kitchen that seems stunning and in fact tends to make sense,” Christina reported.
When they met with their contractor Josh Marquad, the couple was given a estimate of $60,000 to $70,000 for the renovation, excluding the cost of appliances and the demo (due to the fact just one of Christina’s good friends desired to consider their existing cupboards to use for yet another household task).
As far as supplies go, Christina and Josh compromised on a combine for their custom made cabinetry. They selected white oak cabinets and white oak floating shelving with black cabinets beneath the island. White counters with gray veining will make up the kitchen area countersplash.
The episode still left viewers with a cliffhanger, as the couple’s done kitchen renovation was not proven. So here’s to hoping it’s going to be highlighted in the upcoming episode!
